The quick guide

Before you decide

  • Choose a LYRIQ or iX configuration by drivetrain, charging access and exact model year before comparing payments.
  • An iX xDrive45, xDrive60 and M70 are different 2026 proposals; a LYRIQ-V is not a substitute for a standard LYRIQ budget.
  • Check connector and adapter compatibility on the actual car. A nearby charger is useful only if you can use it.

The verdict: compare the EV you will actually charge

The LYRIQ is the stronger starting point when you want to investigate Cadillac's available rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configurations and find one that meets your needs at a comfortable complete cost. The iX deserves priority when you specifically want its all-wheel-drive configuration and prefer the exact BMW cabin and driving position. Neither recommendation means one vehicle has won an independent road test here.

Both require a charging plan. The most important first question is therefore not which screen looks better or which advertisement has the lower monthly number. It is whether the actual vehicle can use the places where you expect to charge, on a schedule and at a price you accept. Once that is solved, compare the configurations you would actually sign for.

Keep the BMW model year and trim names straight

BMW's fixed 2026 launch material lists iX xDrive45, iX xDrive60 and iX M70 xDrive. It gives 402 hp for xDrive45 and 536 hp for xDrive60. Those are distinct choices, not cosmetic versions of an otherwise identical payment. The current general model URL may change, so this comparison cites the dated manufacturer release rather than silently treating an old specification as a new model-year promise.

Ask which model year is on the vehicle identification and window sticker. Older iX trim names can appear in dealer inventory and are not interchangeable with the 2026 names. If a broker substitutes another year or configuration, request that vehicle's own specification and lease proposal. A better payment can be worthwhile, but it should be a conscious substitution.

The Cadillac decision is more than a low payment

Cadillac's overview currently identifies the 2027 LYRIQ and distinguishes the LYRIQ-V performance offering. It also describes rear-wheel-drive range and dual-motor AWD performance in different contexts. Do not combine the most attractive number from each configuration to invent a car that does not exist. The proposal must identify the actual drivetrain and trim.

For a shopper considering the standard LYRIQ, inspect the exact cabin and equipment rather than assuming a V model's demonstration reflects the quoted vehicle. Try visibility, seating, control reach and the cargo opening in ordinary use. If those details work and the complete payment schedule fits comfortably, the car has a defensible case without an exaggerated claim about being the best-value electric SUV for every buyer.

Make a connector plan, not a charger-count assumption

For each proposed vehicle, ask which charging inlet it has, which adapters are approved and whether the public sites you expect to use support that combination. Verify account setup and any software requirements before delivery. Do not infer compatibility from the brand name, a map icon or an adapter that happened to work on somebody else's model year.

If you can charge at home, confirm the available electrical work and installation quote before counting it as convenient. If you rely on public charging, visit the likely site during your normal charging window. Availability, parking access, time limits and price matter as much as the connector. Keep a second workable location in the plan so a broken or occupied charger does not turn into an emergency.

Your comparison checklist
  1. Identify drivetrain and year
  2. Verify compatible charging
  3. Match lease schedules
  4. Budget the real routine

A framework for your comparison—not a guarantee of eligibility or cost.

Use range claims to plan, not to promise

A published range figure applies to a specified configuration and test basis. Wheels, tires, speed, temperature, load and charging choices can change the distance you actually obtain. For this reason, do not choose an iX or LYRIQ using an unqualified range number copied from a different trim. Retrieve the label and current manufacturer details for the car being offered.

Plan the longest journey you make repeatedly. Check the compatible stops, a backup and the time the stop adds to your day. Then compare whether you prefer the vehicle enough to accept that routine. A commuter with reliable overnight charging may barely notice the process; a public-charging driver can reasonably reach a different decision even on the same lease offer. Those are different use cases, not different levels of enthusiasm for EVs.

Separate lease cash from electricity in the budget

Suppose illustrative 36-payment proposals show LYRIQ at $650 monthly with $3,000 initially and iX at $760 with $2,000 initially. Each initial amount includes the first payment. LYRIQ scheduled cash is $3,000 + 35 × $650 = $25,750. iX is $2,000 + 35 × $760 = $28,600. The invented iX premium is $2,850, or about $79.17 per month across the term.

Now add electricity without disguising assumptions as specifications. At a hypothetical 15,000 miles per year and 3 miles per delivered kilowatt-hour, the energy budget is 5,000 kWh. At an invented blended $0.30 per kWh, that is $1,500 yearly before any additional charges. This is not measured efficiency for either car. Replace those inputs with your driving, billing and a realistic vehicle-specific estimate, then include insurance and installation.

What should settle the choice

Choose the LYRIQ when its particular drivetrain, cabin and available proposal are the better fit for your budget and charging routine. Choose the iX when the exact BMW configuration wins your seating and driving test and its premium is worth paying. Reject a quote comparison that substitutes a different trim, year, mileage allowance or eligibility assumption simply to make one brand appear cheaper.

Send a request naming LYRIQ drivetrain and trim plus the exact iX designation and year. Include annual miles, maximum drive-off, home-charging status and essential equipment. Ask for the charging equipment delivered with the actual vehicle and any incentive conditions in writing. A good EV lease is a vehicle you can charge comfortably with a contract you can explain, not an attractive payment attached to unresolved assumptions.

Key takeaways

  • Choose a LYRIQ or iX configuration by drivetrain, charging access and exact model year before comparing payments.
  • An iX xDrive45, xDrive60 and M70 are different 2026 proposals; a LYRIQ-V is not a substitute for a standard LYRIQ budget.
  • Check connector and adapter compatibility on the actual car. A nearby charger is useful only if you can use it.

Put the assumptions in writing before comparing quotes.

Frequently asked questions

Is every LYRIQ all-wheel drive?

No. Verify the exact drivetrain; Cadillac presents distinct configurations. Do not borrow AWD or V specifications for another vehicle.

Is iX xDrive45 the same as an older iX xDrive50?

No. Match the actual model year and designation to its own manufacturer specification and proposal.

Can both use every fast charger nearby?

Do not assume so. Verify the exact inlet, approved adapter, network support and account requirements for the actual vehicle.

Which is cheaper overall?

Compare complete lease schedules plus insurance, charging and any installation costs. Published offers may use different eligibility, term or mileage assumptions.
